from toulouse we travelled on to grasse, which was
supposed to take us something like seven hours but which took more
than ten because i thought it funny to make a small detour to see
st. tropez and ste. maxime on the way which caused us to sit in unbeleavably
heavy traffic jams
and when we finally got to grasse i could not find my uncle jan's
house, this took us another hour or so, before we finally reached
the quaint villa of oom jan, where folly wouldn't join me in the swimming
pool
so i made her sit on one of the benches that came from the garden
of the big house where i grew up in wassenaar, benches that were divided
over the uncles and my father |
after a few
days at oom jan's we continued our trip over the alps
a long, tedious but beautiful journey, following the route napoleon
that took us ten hours, to annecy
we made a great trip to the mèr de glâce at chamonix
(mont blanc)
folly and me travelled up by mountain train and cable cars
an astonishing experience
folly is sitting on the rocks, which are lying on top of the ice
of this gletscher
the lake, the city, the mountains, the forests of annecy
we walked everywhere and often were stopped when people said
ah! un grand caniche!
a wonderful experience this whole trip - i am still thankful i
could do this together with my folly
