| almost ten years together with folly
what did this do to me? what did i learn from folly?
it has changed my view on life
i mention only a few things
a dogs brain is fillled with beauty, and intelligence
anyone considering a dog as inferior is wrong:
they have never truly experienced the real feelings of a dog
they have probably been affected by things like religion
from books written by people, for many reasons, mostly dealing with
power
my folly gave me the insight into different things
her name folly, seems like a joke
but how deep her experience for me has been...
my view on animals has changed
before folly i thought people were 'better' or 'higher' than animals
or plants
ten years with folly changed this: i no longer see people as different
from animals
i learnt to look at some species, not just dogs, in a different
way
by looking differently i noticed more than i did before
and what i learnt from this is that we don't know the least of what
is happening around us
i learnt what ultimate friendship means
i have seen unconditional bondship between dogs
a bondship people can learn from

folly gave me insight of the intense and wonderful feelings of
a dog
feelings so intense and full humans can not even grasp to understand
many cultures use the word 'dog' for something that is supposed
to be inferior
this is wrong, they are not inferior (not superior either, i suppose),
just different
but at least: equal
communication is not just words and body language
humans have lost a lot of the other abilities that most living species
posess
i made numerous new friends, people with dogs
that we met, most of them at clingendael, but also near to my home
while with folly i learnt about crows and ants
by looking at them and - from then on - trying to read as much as
i could about them
not having children i never experienced what a mother can feel
for her child
after folly came to live with me i got to know that feeling
a feeling i now fully understand
