in 1997/1998 i travelled for several weeks to
florida
ed had been very lonely these weeks
i decided a second cat should come to live with us as company
for ed
the very day i decided this
a friend asked me, a few hours later.., whether i wanted a
red tabby
and so nub, the red tabby, 10 weeks old, came to live with
us
he joined our family on july 20,
1998

ed and folly have always been good
friends
but with folly i travelled
ed really needed company
for when we were away

july 20: first meeting of ed and nub
the very moment they met
they became friends
i still remember how ed looked at me
and said "thanks..."
folly wasn't at home:
she was at the breeders' with her pups
that were born only a couple of days before
|

nub had no idea that this was the big monsters' food
tray
august 20 folly came back and nub saw folly
as a big monster
each time he had to pass by folly
nub made himself big as much as he could
while passing that monster in his basket
but already after two weeks
nub almost forgot to make himself big
running past the basket with folly in it
he stopped, and just for one more last time
he did this quickly, and walked on
from then on the friendship began

the house became once again the warm place for all that lived in
it
they eat together
or the cats watch tv while folly guards the house
|

in fact: nub and folly became very close
the friendship between folly and ed remained
nub started to use folly to get my attention
every evening nub used a kind of miaaaoow
after which folly stood up to walk towards me
and between folly's legs nub moved around
tail up
nub's way of getting my attention
(and the usual late night sweets)
nub has spent several days looking for folly
after she had died
probably also because nub hadn't been close to dead folly as ed
had been
