sansom winter in madrid - c.j. sansom
this is when i started to understand - i can only humbly state here: a part of - the civil war in spain

how not any one of the ideas is for real, and nothing is the truth,
and, in the end: no one can be trusted...

my mother always said to me: "civil war is the worst thing that can happen to a nation"
she was right: in this book you can get some idea of that

how nothing is real, nothing the real truth, how everything can be so misleading,
even if you really weant to believe that "this is it", well: no, it isn't
- this is exactly what my mother tought me....
how everything - nowadays - can be lead back to certain ideas we use now,
but then again: they are always misleading you!
